New York studio Selldorf Architects<\/a> and Paris-based Studios Architecture have won the competition to design the biggest renovation to the Mus\u00e9e du Louvre<\/a> for 35 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Announced as the winner by the French minister of culture, <\/span>Catherine P\u00e9gard, the studios are set to create a pair of new entrances for the historic museum, as well as a dedicated exhibition space for the Mona Lisa painting.<\/p>\n

Selldorf Architects<\/a> and Studios Architecture<\/a>‘s proposal was selected from a shortlist of five submissions, which included\u00a0London studio\u00a0AL_A<\/a>\u00a0with Paris design agency\u00a0NC Nathalie Crini\u00e8re<\/a>, Japanese studio\u00a0Sou Fujimoto Architects<\/a>, US architecture studio\u00a0Diller Scofidio + Renfro<\/a>\u00a0with French firm\u00a0Architecturestudio<\/a> and Japanese studio\u00a0SANAA<\/a>\u00a0with French studio\u00a0Dubuisson Architecture<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Following the jury’s deliberations, which commended the high quality of the proposals submitted by the candidates, the project submitted by Studios Architecture Paris and Selldorf Architects was chosen for the quality of its architectural proposal and its integration into the heritage, urban, and landscape context,” said the Mus\u00e9e du Louvre.<\/p>\n

“The project fully incorporates the challenges of visitor experience, clear pathways, simplicity, and greenery, all while taking relevant security considerations into account.”<\/p>\n
