This week on Dezeen<\/a>, Japanese architect Kengo Kuma unveiled the new entrance to the Angevin gothic-style Angers Cathedral<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kuma’s design features five arched openings, wrapped in archivolts \u2013 a series of ornamental bands. The concrete entrance frames views of the historic sculptures in the doorway.<\/p>\n

The 21-metre-long entrance was designed to create “a harmonious dialogue” with the architecture of the medieval building, according to the studio.<\/p>\n

In design news, athletes Sabastian Sawe and Tigst Assefa wore the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3s to run the London marathon in world record times<\/a>, with Sawe recording the first-ever official sub-two-hour time.<\/p>\n

The base of the Lincoln Memorial Pool will be repaired and repainted<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In the US, president Donald Trump announced plans to repaint the base of the “filthy” Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool<\/a> in Washington DC. He said the basin will be lined in a bright “American flag blue” liner.<\/p>\n

“Now we have a nice, clean surface on which we’re putting an industrial-grade swimming pool topping,” said Trump. “It’ll last for 40 or 50 years.”<\/p>\n
