Local studio K\u00f6nigsberger Vannucchi Arquitetos Associados<\/a> has completed a residential skyscraper<\/a> in S\u00e3o Paulo<\/a> lined with wood cladding,\u00a0 a “rare application in Brazil”.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bueno Brand\u00e3o 257 tower is located in S\u00e3o Paulo’s Vila Nova Concei\u00e7\u00e3o neighbourhood and contains one 5,381-square-foot (500-square-metre) apartment on each of its 22 floors, as well as amenities.<\/p>\n

The skyscraper has a rectangular silhouette. It is supported by an external perimeter superstructure that wraps up and over the building’s sides.<\/p>\n

Exposed concrete<\/a> floor plates run along the facade and are intersected by planes of Finnish timber cladding. Light, sandy porcelain<\/a> panels cover the rest of the building exterior, while the apartments are lined with panes of glass.<\/p>\n

It is clad in a sandy porcelain and Finnish wood panels<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

According to the team, the porcelain is “high-performance” and the wood was treated for fire-resistance.<\/p>\n

“The facade is one of the project’s most distinctive elements,” said the team. “It is one of the rare projects in Brazil to employ this type of external wood cladding, whose warm and precise texture enhances the sensory dimension of the architecture.”<\/p>\n

The skyscraper was also designed to respond to orientation. On its northeast facade, it is lined with planters to provide shading, solar filtering and “reinforce the biophilic language”.<\/p>\n

On its northwest facade, which is more exposed to noise and solar radiation according to the team, the facade is more opaque.<\/p>\n
