100 Days is an annual project at New York City\u2019s School of Visual Arts<\/a> that was founded by Michael Bierut. Each year, the students of the school\u2019s Masters in Branding Program spend 100 days documenting their process with a chosen creative endeavor. This year, we\u2019re showcasing each student in the program by providing a peek into ten days of their project. Micah Jones<\/a> is a creative director and brand strategist who examines how brands shape identity, believing the most influential brands co-create culture with us. For Jones\u2019 100 Day project, his skin was his canvas, on which he imprinted the moments that shaped who he is.<\/p>\n

In Micah\u2019s words:<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to tattoo myself every day for 100 days with symbols of things that have shaped my identity. The only problem was that I\u2019d never tattooed before. I had to learn how to make this project possible. It\u2019s an intimate (and scary) study on our identities and what makes us who we are. The person I am today\u2014the person people meet and experience\u2014has been shaped by all of these life moments: joys, traumas, family, friends, hobbies, interests. This project took those invisible markers and made them visible marks permanently on my skin for everyone to see.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
